The exhibition itself takes an experimental approach, inviting viewers to reflect on how we currently consume films, information, and creative works—and how we interact with others. It raises a crucial question: What is the significance of offline film community spaces in the context of our modern world? If such a space were to exist today, could it bring about any meaningful change?

The My Black Is Campaign is a vibrant gallery celebrating the journeys of Black students, staff, and alumni at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC). Using photos, the exhibit reflects the legacy, community, and celebration of Black excellence on campus, showcasing UTSC’s ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion, and success.

Gallery 1265’s annual themed exhibition, Shift (2025), is a multi-media art showcase that delves into the transformative power of change. With this theme, students are encouraged to reflect on the changes that have shaped their lives and identities. Just as the pressing of the ‘shift’ key on a keyboard transforms a lowercase letter, life's pivotal moments, big or small, easy or hard, have the power to reshape how we see ourselves and connect with others. 

The artworks on display share personal narratives of transformation, and adaptation. In this space, artists invite viewers to join them in embracing the precarious and ever-shifting nature of our world and community. Shift reminds us that we should embrace every moment of change, as a vital part of the ongoing journey that shapes who we are and where we are going, like the pressing of a key.

In collaboration with CAPTURE we present an exhibition by student photographers. This exhibition features individual submissions that reveal personal stories, offering a look at how each artist views and interprets their surroundings.

DIMINUTIVE HUES is the duo exhibition by Arthur Yuanquiansheng Cui @cheonseongchoi (He/Him) and Molly Yimiao Wang @icebearmollyyyyy (She/Her). The exhibition captures the overlooked nuances of daily life and elevate these subtle presence out of haze, and invites viewers to perceive these delicate occurrences through artists’ graceful and intentional perspectives.

The exhibition runs from November 6 to November 20, 2024 at Gallery 1265.

Beyond Boundaries (2023) is an audio-visual storytelling exhibition in partnership with the International Student Centre at the University of Toronto Scarborough. This exhibition celebrates the power of art as a universal language that transcends borders, language, and barriers. Each piece depicts the story of an international student at UTSC that has been carefully collected by a team of interviewers.

In this duo exhibition, Jiayi Fang and Zehua Zhang showcase the magic of liminal photography, a medium that captures the beauty of transitional spaces and fleeting moments, through collection of photographs that draws from digital film and polaroids taken in Canada and China.

Acorn Tri-Campus Art Festival (ATAF) is a week-long, multi-venue studio art focused festival led by students, in collaboration with art focused groups across all three campuses at the University of Toronto. 

Throughout the festival, you will have the opportunity to explore many student art exhibitions, attend student short film screenings, watch the opening night of student theatre, participate in a myriad of student club workshops, join student staff and faculty in a major reception and more!
