UNRAVEL Solo Exhibition by Arthur Cui

This exhibition Unravel (解绪) is inspired by the imagery of “解縻” in “Zhuangzi: Enjoyment in Untroubled Ease” - to break free from constraints and gain new possibilities. Unravel is not only a sorting out of complex emotions and chaotic thinking, but also a practice of finding the path of expression through decomposition and reorganization. In this process, the purpose of creation is not simply to pursue order, but to find the overlooked details and potential connections through continuous exploration, disassembly and reconstruction.

WHIMSY Solo Exhibition by Jonathan De Vries

Whimsy is the solo exhibition by Jonathan De Vries, about embracing the quaint and impulsive playfulness of the worlds unfolding around us and within us. The creations within tell stories of creatures and folks, both familiar and foreign with paintings, animation, and with sculptures of flowers and swirls. And it hopes that the fantastical wonder and curiosity inside you seep out into the people and places you go to.

It raises a crucial question: What is the significance of offline film community spaces in the context of our modern world? If such a space were to exist today, could it bring about any meaningful change?

Annual Themed Student Exhibition: SHIFT

Gallery 1265’s annual themed exhibition, Shift (2025), is a multi-media art showcase that delves into the transformative power of change. With this theme, students are encouraged to reflect on the changes that have shaped their lives and identities. Just as the pressing of the ‘shift’ key on a keyboard transforms a lowercase letter, life's pivotal moments, big or small, easy or hard, have the power to reshape how we see ourselves and connect with others.

The artworks on display share personal narratives of transformation, and adaptation. In this space, artists invite viewers to join them in embracing the precarious and ever-shifting nature of our world and community. Shift reminds us that we should embrace every moment of change, as a vital part of the ongoing journey that shapes who we are and where we are going, like the pressing of a key.
